There are three ways to get out of trading hours for money: code, content and capital. They're not new ideas. What's new is that AI has made the first two available to one person, without a team, a big budget or a computer science degree.
Here's how I use each one.
Code
Code is leverage because it works while you don't. Write it once, and it runs a thousand times.
A few years ago, building software meant hiring developers. Now I describe what I want to an AI, and it builds, ships and maintains it with me. My whole business runs on software I built this way: the CRM, the lead routing, the reporting, the AI receptionist that answers texts and calls for my clients.
The shift isn't that AI writes code. It's that one person can now own the whole stack, from the server to the live app someone else uses.
Content
Content is leverage because it works for you in people's feeds and inboxes while you sleep. One good idea, written down, can reach more people than a year of one-on-one calls.
AI makes content cheaper to produce, not easier to get right. I use it to turn what I already know into posts, images, videos and ads. The thinking is still mine. The production that used to take a team is now a conversation.
Capital
Capital is the oldest form of leverage: money that makes money.
It's also the one you earn last. Code and content create the cash flow. Capital is what that cash flow turns into when you invest it instead of spending it. The first two are the engine. Capital is where the output goes.
How they stack
The order matters:
- Code lets you build things that run without you.
- Content gets those things in front of people.
- Capital compounds whatever they earn.
Most people try to start at the end. I think you start with code, because right now it's the most underpriced skill there is. You don't need to learn to program. You need to learn to direct an AI that can.
